Vancouver, B.C. — Sarah Nathan, Manager of Provincial Operations for Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC) in British Columbia, has been awarded the prestigious King Charles III Coronation Medal for her exceptional contributions to environmental conservation. The honour was presented by Nathan Cullen, B.C. Minister of Water, Land and Resource Stewardship, recognizing Nathan’s tireless work in protecting and restoring critical wetland habitats across the province.

Nathan, who joined DUC in 2016, has played a pivotal role in numerous conservation projects, including the restoration of the Nanaimo Estuary and a groundbreaking pilot project in Metro Vancouver that uses reclaimed sediment from the Fraser River to fortify the receding Sturgeon Banks. Her leadership has been instrumental in advancing wetland restoration efforts, positioning DUC as a leader in environmental stewardship in British Columbia.

“I’m so honoured to be recognized for my work,” Nathan said. “I’m just one of many working to address watershed security and the loss of wetlands in B.C. Wetlands support so many species while making our landscape resilient to drought, fire, and flood. I’m grateful to take part in conserving these critically important ecosystems.”

Minister Cullen praised Nathan for her ability to unite stakeholders on important conservation issues: “Sarah has selflessly held up incredible values, including her ability to connect people, even when they may not start on the same page. We are glad to recognize her outstanding contributions.”

Michael Nadler, CEO of DUC, highlighted the importance of Nathan’s work: “Sarah’s tireless efforts and leadership in conservation have made a profound impact on the landscape of British Columbia. This recognition is a testament to the positive difference she has made in protecting our natural resources for future generations.”

The award celebrates not only Nathan’s personal achievements but also DUC’s commitment to safeguarding Canada’s natural heritage.
