The Township of Black River-Matheson, ON announced Feb. 23 it is receiving $1.54 million in funding from the province of Ontario to support improvements to its wastewater treatment infrastructure.
The funding will advance a major upgrade at the Matheson Water Pollution Control Plant, a Township of Black River-Matheson release said, and will be provided through the province’s Municipal Housing Infrastructure Programs, Health and Safety Water Stream.
“We are very grateful to the Government of Ontario for this vital support. This investment will help ensure that our community’s wastewater infrastructure remains safe, reliable and resilient. On behalf of Council and our residents, I want to thank the province for its partnership and its commitment to supporting small and northern municipalities like Black River-Matheson,” Township of Black River-Matheson mayor Dave Dyment said.
“With this provincial support, the Township can move forward with a long-planned infrastructure improvement that will deliver lasting benefits for our residents and help safeguard essential services for years to come,” he added.
The Township will share additional information on project timing and next steps as planning and implementation proceed, the release said.
