Work has resumed on the McCarthy Boulevard sewer renewal project in Regina, SK.
The project updates a critical wastewater pipe that carries nearly 100 per cent the city’s wastewater, a City of Regina release said, and involves relining a significant section of the wastewater pipe, extending its life by about 50 years.
“We’re pleased to see work moving forward again on this essential project as it will strengthen Regina’s wastewater system for the long term,” City of Regina director of water, waste and environment Carolyn Kalim said. “This project allows us to renew critical infrastructure in a cost-effective way, helping ensure reliable service for residents while minimizing impacts to the community.”
Work includes reinstallation of a temporary sewer bypass pipe along McCarthy Boulevard between the railway tracks and Mikkelson Drive. In a second phase, crews will prepare the wastewater pipe for relining by cleaning out any existing debris before installing the new liner.
The project is expected to be completed by late August 2026, the release said.
