Emerald Technology Ventures (ETV) has announced the opening of its Singaporean office with the launch of the ripple2wave incubator (r2wi), a joint venture with VFT Ventures. The mission of r2wi is to support the commercialization of water technologies by incubating startups in Singapore, and the activity is supported by Enterprise Singapore.

“We have a strong track record partnering on open innovation with Asian industrial technology corporations–establishing a physical presence is the next step to expand our activities in this increasingly important region,” said Gina Domanig, ETV’s managing partner. “Singapore is a perfect location, as it consistently produces cutting-edge research, hosts many global industrial players, and is a smart green city role model.”

At the same time,it allows us to better connect in this fast-moving region to the benefit of our deal flow, portfolio companies and investors,” said Dr. Helge Daebel, ETV’s investment director for the water sector and managing director of r2wi.

Enterprise Singapore is the government agency championing enterprise development. The agency works with committed companies to build capabilities, innovate, and internationalize.

VFT Ventures was established by a team of entrepreneurs who has successfully taken and commercialized technologies from universities and research centers.

ETV is a globally recognized investment firm in the areas of energy, water, advanced materials and industrial IT with offices in Zurich, Switzerland and Toronto, Canada, Emerald has managed assets of over USD 660 million to date. Founded in 2000, the company has raised four venture capital funds, completed more than 60 venture investments, been a trusted partner for numerous multinational corporations in their open innovation activities and managed four technology investment programs for third parties.
