New Brunswick announces Memramcook water upgrades

The government of New Brunswick announced Feb. 9 it is investing in water system upgrades as well as a new recreation centre in Memramcook, NB.

The province is investing $2.7 million towards water infrastructure as well as $4.1 million for construction of a new recreational centre through its Regional Development Corporation.

The federal government previously invested more than $10.1 million in the two projects, a Province of New Brunswick release said.

“This funding represents a decisive step forward for our community. Thanks to the provincial government’s support, we can move forward with our vision of providing the people of Memramcook with a modernized gathering place that is accessible and tailored to their needs,” Memramcook mayor Maxime O. Bourgeois said.

“The expansion of the drinking water system is also an essential investment in ensuring sustainable infrastructure and reliable access to water, particularly in light of recent periods of drought,” she added.

“As my father’s birthplace, Memramcook has always been special to me,” federal internal trade minister Dominic LeBlanc said. “I’m incredibly proud to be teaming up with our provincial and municipal partners to bring to life what will be so much more than a community centre; it will be emblematic of the amazing quality of life that Memramcook has to offer.”
