LINCOLN, ON – The Town of Lincoln has received $13.64 million in provincial funding to advance the Prudhommes Watermain Upgrades Project. The funds, provided through Ontario’s Housing Enabling Water Systems Fund (HEWSF), will help meet the growing water infrastructure needs of the community as outlined in the Prudhommes Secondary Plan.
The project will see the installation of approximately 6.5 kilometers of new watermain, addressing both current and future demands for safe and reliable water service in Lincoln. In conjunction with the Victoria Avenue Watermain Crossing Upgrade, this initiative will support water access for residents and businesses alike.
In addition to the local improvements, the Region of Niagara has secured $8 million from the HEWSF to construct a new pumping station. This station will enhance the overall water distribution system, ensuring both local and regional infrastructure can support future development.
“This significant funding from the Province of Ontario is crucial to advancing our water infrastructure, ensuring safety, well-being, and sustainable growth,” said Lincoln Mayor Sandra Easton. “These upgrades are aligned with our community’s growth targets, as outlined in the Prudhommes Secondary Plan.”
The total $22 million investment will help Lincoln achieve its housing and economic development goals, paving the way for future growth.
“These upgrades will not only meet today’s needs but position Lincoln for continued success,” added Tony Brunet, Chair of Lincoln’s Community Services and Infrastructure Committee.
MPP Sam Oosterhoff noted that the project is part of Ontario’s broader strategy to support municipalities in building homes faster while ensuring essential infrastructure is in place to meet growing demands.
