Guy Laliberté preps for his trip to the ISS.

“Humanitarian space explorer” Guy Laliberté blasted into orbit early this morning, becoming Canada’s first space tourist.

The Cirque du Soleil and ONE DROP Foundation founder has said his goal in space is to raise awareness of water issues facing the world. “My mission is dedicated to making a difference on this vital resource by using what I know best: artistry,” said Laliberté in a press release announcing his training at the Yu. A. Gagarin State Scientific Research-and-Testing Cosmonaut Training Centre in Star City.

CWT wishes Laliberté a safe and pleasant journey to the International Space Station. You can visit his mission log here.
