Despite its abundant freshwater resources, Canada is facing growing pressures on its water security. The Government of Canada highlights in 2026 the increasing risks of droughts and floods, alongside challenges linked to ageing water infrastructure. The Canada’s Changing Climate Report 2026 also finds that snowmelt, thawing and groundwater recharge are occurring increasingly earlier, potentially affecting water availability during the summer, particularly in southern Canada. According to the Canadian Drought Monitor, in July 2026 precipitation levels varied considerably, with some areas recording significantly below-average levels. Against this backdrop, the Canadian Government launched the development of the country’s first National Water Security Strategy in March 2026, recognising water security as a national priority.
In this context, international cooperation has become even more strategic for Canadian companies and industry professionals. Sharing technologies, expertise, knowledge and experience is essential to accelerate innovation and develop infrastructure capable of addressing one of the greatest challenges facing both Canada and the rest of the world.
WATER CYCLE & BLUE ECONOMY: THE FUTURE OF WATER AT ECOMONDO
Taking place from 3 to 6 November 2026 at the Rimini Expo Centre in Italy, Ecomondo is now recognised as one of the leading international events dedicated to the green, blue and circular economy and a global benchmark for supply chains and professionals involved in the ecological transition, including those operating in the water sector.
Organised by Italian Exhibition Group (IEG), the event will further strengthen its focus on water during its 29th edition through the expanded Water Cycle & Blue Economy exhibition sector located in the eastern area of the exhibition centre and dedicated to technologies and services for integrated water resource management.
The exhibition will showcase solutions for water abstraction, treatment and distribution, wastewater treatment and reuse, network monitoring, plant digitalisation, sensors, automation and intelligent systems designed to improve the efficiency and resilience of water infrastructure.

THE BLUE ECONOMY AND THE TRENCHLESS DISTRICT COMPLETE THE EXHIBITION
Within the water exhibition sector, the Blue Economy and Trenchless Districts further broaden the scope of the event.
The Blue Economy District highlights solutions dedicated to the sustainable management of aquatic ecosystems, coastal areas and marine resources, promoting technologies and business models capable of combining economic growth with biodiversity protection and climate change adaptation.
The Trenchless District, organised in partnership with IATT (Italian Association for Trenchless Technologies), is entirely dedicated to No-Dig technologies, which are becoming increasingly strategic for the maintenance, rehabilitation and construction of underground infrastructure without invasive excavation. These solutions help reduce intervention times, costs, emissions and disruption in urban areas while improving the efficiency and resilience of water networks.

ECOMONDO: A GLOBAL STAGE FOR THE ECOLOGICAL TRANSITION
Ecomondo’s international dimension remains one of its greatest strengths. Every year, the event attracts operators, buyers, delegations and companies from numerous countries, providing an ideal business and networking environment where participants can develop partnerships and commercial agreements, exchange expertise and discover the most advanced technologies available on the market.
At a time when water is becoming an increasingly strategic resource for Europe’s competitiveness, Ecomondo continues to establish itself as the place where the future of sustainable water resource management is shaped.
Alongside the water sector, the exhibition layout also includes the Sites & Soil Restoration, Earth Observation and Environmental Monitoring, Bio-energy & Agriculture and Circular & Regenerative Bio-Economy sectors, the Circular & Healthy City district, a dedicated focus on Paper and the Innovation District, reserved for start-ups, innovation and sustainable skills.
New for the 2026 edition is an entire exhibition hall dedicated exclusively to the Textile sector.
Alongside the exhibition, Ecomondo will host an extensive programme of conferences and technical sessions, many of them held in English and developed by its International Technical Scientific Committee, with a strong focus on the evolution of European environmental legislation.
Other topics to be addressed in Rimini, within the framework of continued international cooperation and strengthened partnerships with the Mediterranean region and Africa, include healthy and circular cities, artificial intelligence and new digital technologies supporting the ecological transition, the bioeconomy and bioenergy.
