Boil water advisory lifted for parts of Longueuil, Brossard and Saint-Lambert

The City of Longueuil has lifted its precautionary boil water advisory affecting residents in Greenfield Park borough and the Le Moyne sector, as well as the cities of Brossard and Saint-Lambert.

Officials said recent rests on the drinking water network met provincial standards, confirming the water is safe to consume. Residents no longer need to boil water before consumption.

The advisory had been issued as a precaution during planned modernization work at the Le Royer drinking water treatment plant in Saint-Lambert.

The city noted that no special measures are required following the lifting of the advisory. However, Urgence Québec recommends running cold water taps for a few minutes, disinfecting ice machines and flushing garden hoses and outdoor taps as precautions.

The Le Royer plant recently completed the first phase of preparatory work, which involved testing procedures for replacing major valves and a flow measurement instrument. A second phase will be carried out later to ensure the long-term reliability of the water supply and to meet Québec’s Drinking Water Conservation Strategy requirements.

Residents can find more details about the project on the City of Longueuil’s website.
