In 2016, the federal and provincial governments invested a combined $45.2 million into improvements to the facility, which serves the communities of Moncton, Riverview and Dieppe. The remaining $45.2 million for the project was provided by TransAqua, which was formerly known as the Greater Moncton Wastewater Commission.
The project involves adding a secondary level of wastewater treatment to allow the facility to meet current standards of the federal Wastewater Systems Effluent Regulations and reduce the amount of waste being released into regional waterways.
A webcam has been set up to capture live updates on the project, here.
