Niverville, MB – The Town of Niverville released the results of the Core Water Main proposed project survey. This survey, conducted between March 1st, 2024, and April 15th, 2024, was to gather the opinions of residents who would potentially be affected by the installation of water mains in the core of Town. The Town received valid responses from roughly 51% of affected households. Of the residents that responded to the survey, 79% were found to not be in favour of proceeding with installation in 2024.
Recognizing that the current cost of living is at the top of mind for many potentially affected residents, Council has decided to refrain from proceeding with this proposed project for the time being.
“I want to say thank you to all the residents who took time to respond to this survey,” said Mayor of Niverville Myron Dyck. “Council listens to its residents and has decided to not proceed with this proposed project at this time. Thankfully, we have been given permission by the Provincial Government to hold onto the $3 million grant for the next couple of years. This gives us the opportunity to revisit this proposed project later when the cost of living has subsided.”
The Town of Niverville would like to remind potentially affected residents that all answers to the survey are confidential and will not be shared publicly.
