The governments of Canada and Yukon have signed off on an almost $5-million investment for Yukon farmers with the launch of a new suite programs under Growing Forward. The funding and programs are a result of new bilateral agreements that reflect a five-year commitment to help position Canadian farmers for success.
Funds include a $1-million investment in agriculture in the environment-a program to strengthen stewardship on agricultural lands and within the surrounding landscape through the support for studies assessing new farm land, collecting soil, vegetation and water data, and incorporating this data into long-term baseline indicators, including assessment of water quality and quantity for irrigation and farm use.
Growing Forward is a national agricultural framework to coordinate federal, provincial and territorial agricultural policy. Federal, provincial and territorial governments are delivering $1.3 billion for farm families over five years.
It is however not always possible to modify certain conditions
and restrictions that come with the property. Commercial carwashes use
less water per wash, and they are also required to drain used water into the sewage system, rather than storm drains, which protects aquatic life.
I am working on the closed cycle gardening and will plant our
vegetable garden in the area that has been alfalfa and mulch
with the alfalfa but since we have animals I will run it though them first
and use it as manure.
