As of yesterday, the Anishinabek Nation and Ontario have agreed to continue to work together to strengthen collaboration on natural resource management.
The Anishinabek Nation, as represented by the Union of Ontario Indians, and the province’s Ministry of Natural Resources have signed four agreements related to natural resources. The agreements will enhance relations between Aboriginal people and the ministry through consultation on resources such as fish, wildlife and Great Lakes water.
“It’s time to start seeing specific results from all these processes that will move the yardstick on long outstanding issues, ” said Chief Patrick Madahbee of the Anishinabek Nation.
