The Southern Ontario Water Consortium (SOWC) is inviting applications by southern Ontario companies for a limited number of technology development projects of up to 2 years in duration that could benefit from a contribution of up to $500,000 toward eligible project costs.
The SOWC’s Advancing Water Technologies (AWT) program is funded by the Government of Canada through the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario. SOWC is now Interested applicants must submit an Intake Form for consideration no later than 26 August, 2016.
The AWT Program eligibility criteria and requirements will apply; please refer to the AWT Program Guidelines and the Addendum for large projects.
In addition, the following guidelines will apply to projects seeking over $100,000 in funding:
- Project funds are awarded on a reimbursement basis only, to the academic partner institution where the project’s eligible academic researcher is employed. Under no circumstances will funding be directed to a company partner.
- A single company (and its academic partner institution) must be the applicant for large projects, but projects that will engage or benefit multiple companies and/or include collaboration with multiple academic institutions are strongly encouraged.
- Company partners are required to provide at least a 1:1 matching contribution to the AWT Program funding to the project. Cash or cash-equivalent, or a combination of both, will be accepted. Please refer to the AWT Program Guidelines and AWT Company Matching Contribution Guidelines for further details on eligible matching contributions. Intellectual Property and Conflict of Interest rules apply. Projects may be up to 24 months in duration. All eligible project expenses must be incurred by 31 December, 2018.
Deadlines for Applications
AWT is a three-year program ending on 31 December, 2018. For applicants seeking larger contributions and longer project duration (up to 2 years), all AWT applications must have a final submission no later than 15 November, 2016. Interested applicants must submit an intake form by 1 September, 2016. Intake forms will be reviewed and full applications for up to 5 successful large project applications invited no later than 15 September, 2016.
