THE WILLIAMS LAKE Water Treatment Plant in British Columbia is undergoing significant
upgrades to improve water quality and safety. In October 2023, the federal and provincial
governments, along with the City of Williams Lake, announced an investment of over $24.3
million for the construction of a new facility aimed at reducing manganese levels in the drinking water.

Additionally, in November 2024, the city council approved the use of chloramines as a secondary disinfection method to avoid the formation of harmful by-products from chlorine, ensuring safer drinking water.
