The Township of Mapleton received a major financial boost to its wastewater infrastructure improvements, thanks to a $9.8 million investment from the Government of Ontario. Funding from the Housing Enabling Water Systems Fund will support critical upgrades that will deliver safe, reliable, and sustainable services for residents and businesses.
The investment will modernize aging infrastructure, expand system capacity, and boost operational efficiency. These enhancements will not only address long-term growth demands but also ensure compliance with environmental standards and improve the reliability of wastewater treatment in Mapleton.
“We are incredibly grateful to Kinga Surma, Minister of Infrastructure, MPP Matt Rae, and the Ontario government for recognizing the importance of investing in essential services like clean water and wastewater treatment,” said Gregg Davidson, Mayor of the Township of Mapleton. “This funding will ensure our infrastructure can meet the needs of residents today and for decades to come.”
The project will include replacing outdated equipment, upgrading treatment processes, and improving distribution and collection networks. These improvements will also help accommodate future population growth, strengthen local economic development, and reduce environmental impacts.
Ontario’s investment in Mapleton is part of the province’s ongoing commitment to helping municipalities maintain and upgrade vital infrastructure—protecting public health, creating economic opportunities, and building stronger communities across Ontario.
“This funding is a significant step forward for Mapleton,” said Jamie Morgan, Director of Public Works. “By investing in modern wastewater infrastructure, we’re ensuring residents can count on efficient and environmentally responsible service for years to come.”
