In celebration of National Toilet Paper Day, Bunzl Canada has launched a new initiative under its BUNZL FOR BETTER program, making a significant donation to address the critical need for personal hygiene products across the country. The Burlington-based national distributor, in collaboration with Food Banks Canada, has donated over 67,000 rolls of toilet tissue to food banks nationwide.

Toilet paper, a basic necessity, is often overlooked as a critical need for many Canadians facing financial hardships. “Toilet paper is a basic necessity that, sadly, for some families and individuals can be a challenge to obtain,” said Margo Hunnisett, Vice President, Marketing & Communications at Bunzl Canada. This year’s donation includes REGARD® and DuraPlus® brand toilet tissue from Bunzl, along with contributions from leading industry partners Cascades, Sunset, Kruger, Essity (Tork), and Kimberly-Clark Professional. The collective donation will be distributed by Food Banks Canada to local food banks across the country.

John Howlett, President of Bunzl Canada, emphasized the importance of the initiative, stating, “We’re proud to collaborate once again with Food Banks Canada and our generous vendor partners to support National Toilet Paper Day and help to ensure the supply of this essential product to families and individuals in need. It’s a small but significant way we can support the well-being of the most vulnerable in our communities nationwide, and that’s what BUNZL FOR BETTER is all about.”

The partnership between Bunzl Canada and Food Banks Canada reflects a shared commitment to community sustainability and addressing the ongoing challenges faced by vulnerable populations. Erin Filey-Wronecki, Chief Development and Partnerships Officer at Food Banks Canada, highlighted the impact of the donation: “So many families across Canada are forced to make difficult decisions between purchasing essential household items, including toilet paper, and buying food. Supporting this need alleviates some of the stress that so many people have when trying to purchase essential household items.”

Bunzl Canada’s contribution is part of a broader effort to alleviate food insecurity and provide essential non-food items to those in need. The initiative not only provides immediate relief but also emphasizes the importance of community support in tackling issues of hygiene and food security.
