Western Canada Water presented their annual awards at its annual Water Conference and Exhibtion, held in Regina, Sask.
William McKay Honorary Life Award – Mark Keller
Mark has built a career spanning more than four decades in water and wastewater operations, engineering, management, and consulting across Saskatchewan. A long-time WCW and AWWA volunteer and past WCW President, he has been recognized with both the H.C. Lindsten and George Warren Fuller Awards.
H.C. Lindsten Award – Rynette Moore-Guillaume
Rynette Moore Guillaume has dedicated more than three decades to the water and wastewater sector through leadership, volunteer service, operator training, and mentorship. Her contributions span provincial and national associations, First Nations operator capacity building, cross connection control, and international water initiatives. Rynette’s commitment to sharing knowledge, strengthening the profession, and supporting operators and communities has had a lasting impact across the industry.
H.M. Bailey Award – Kevin Syrnick
Kevin Syrnick has over thirty-five years of professional experience in both the private and public sectors and is currently manager of the Water and Sewer Engineering Branch of the City of Regina. He is the former Trustee of the Western Canada Section AWWA, CWWA Director for Western Canada Water, and was chair of the organizing committee for the 2014 Western Canada Water Conference.
Al Reimer Award – Aubrey Whittleton
Aubrey Whittleton, Director of Works Town of Battleford, is a dedicated operator and respected leader who takes great pride in his work and service to his community. He readily shares his knowledge and experience, providing practical guidance and support to fellow operators. His strong work ethic, leadership, and willingness to help others reflects his commitment to the water industry.
Exceptional Municipal Project Award – City of Regina Eastern Pressure Solution – Redbear Avenue Supply Main, Pumping Station, and Reservoir Project in partnership with AECOM
The Redbear Avenue Supply Main, Pumping Station, and Reservoir Project strengthens water service across Regina’s growing city and eastern neighbourhoods. The project includes 8.5 km of 900 mm water supply main, a new 85 megalitre-per-day pumping station, and two 42.5 megalitre water storage reservoirs. Identified through the Southeast Serviceability Study in 2012, refined through the 2019 Water Master Plan, and advanced through design phases completed in 2020 and 2023, construction commenced in 2024 and was completed in 2026. Now operational, the system provides critical capacity for future growth while improving service reliability for existing residents and businesses.
