XPV Water Partners announced that Badger Meter, Inc., a global leader in smart water management solutions, has acquired SmartCover Systems.
The deal adds real-time monitoring of collection systems, with a focus on sewer line and lift station monitoring, to the network monitoring applications already offered under Badger Meter’s BlueEdge™ suite of water management solutions.
SmartCover has helped prevent tens of thousands of harmful sewer spills and save its customers millions of dollars per year in both operating costs and capital costs. Since investing in the company, XPV has worked with SmartCover to build a world-class team, broaden and strengthen its offerings, complete a strategic acquisition, and rapidly grow its customer base. In 2023, SmartCover acquired Data Flow Systems, adding the ability to monitor and control lift stations, an important point of vulnerability in collection systems, to the business.
“As utilities manage growing water risk, including aging infrastructure, limited resources, and more frequent and severe weather events, real-time monitoring is a critical tool. We saw right away that SmartCover could make a difference and become the leader in the sector,” said Sam Saintonge, Investment Partner, XPV Water Partners. “Today, the company’s solutions are helping utilities make smarter decisions, introduce efficiencies and cost savings, and build resilient infrastructure.”
“We’re proud of SmartCover’s growth and delighted that the company has found a new home with Badger Meter,” Saintonge added. “We wish the team continued success.”
“Badger Meter is a great fit for SmartCover and our solutions,” said Corey Williams, President and CEO of SmartCover. “The company’s innovation and leadership in the smart water management space makes it a natural home for our market-leading collection system monitoring technologies. On behalf of the SmartCover team, I want to thank XPV for helping SmartCover build the winning strategy that helped our team achieve this exciting milestone.”
