John Stager is the new chair of the Walkerton Clean Water Centre’s board of directors.

The Walkerton Clean Water Centre has appointed John Stager as the new chair of its board of directors. Stager brings more than 30 years of environmental management and organizational transformation experience to the board. He was chief drinking water inspector for the province of Ontario and assistant deputy minister for the drinking water management division of the Ontario Ministry of the Environment from 2008 to 2012. He also led a series of modernization initiatives across Ontario’s 13 regulatory compliance ministries as the assistant deputy minister lead for the Inspections, Investigations, and Enforcement initiative from 2004 to 2008.

Following Walkerton’s E. coli outbreak, Stager represented the Government of Ontario in Walkerton, providing cross-ministry support to individuals, families, and businesses. He holds a B.SC. from Acadia University in Nova Scotia, and also graduated from Western University’s Ivey Executive Program and Harvard’s Executive Program on Strategic Management, of Regulatory and Enforcement Agencies.
