About The Project
THE NEW water treatment plant expansion on the shores of Georgian Bay marks a significant
milestone for the Town of Collingwood. The project is expected to support residential, commercial, and industrial growth in the community for the next 25 years or more.
Collingwood took a proactive approach by pre-qualifying general contractors early in the design process. This strategy helped ensure that only reputable and experienced contractors would bid on the work. The prequalified contractors participated in workshops to discuss contract considerations and constructability issues, providing valuable feedback that was incorporated into the design. The goal is a robust design that minimizes issues, conflicts, and changes during construction.
Construction began in July 2024.
