On behalf of the Minister of Municipal Affairs, Ms. Andrée Laforest, the Member of the National Assembly for Saint-François, Ms. Geneviève Hébert, confirmed today that $13,186,800 has been granted to the City of Sherbrooke for water infrastructure work. This amount comes from the $41,788,919 envelope allocated to the City of Sherbrooke under the 2023 Municipal Water Infrastructure Program (PRIMEAU).
“In Sherbrooke, as everywhere in Quebec, our government is proud to support municipalities in carrying out projects that benefit their communities, particularly those aimed at improving public water infrastructure. It’s a matter of the quality of services offered to the population, as well as the preservation of our precious water. Thank you to the people of the City for their proactive approach to this matter!” said Andrée Laforest, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Minister responsible for the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region.
The aid will allow for the renewal of more than 3,200 meters of drinking water, stormwater, and wastewater pipes. The work will take place under Curé-LaRocque, Haig, Moore, Rioux, Lincoln , Fairmount, Federal, Cambrai, Ormes, and Dufferin streets.
“As the region’s MP, I am delighted to see this major project come to fruition. This is essential work not only to ensure access to quality drinking water and better wastewater management, but also to support the city’s growth and development. Ultimately, the population is the real beneficiary, and that can only be positive,” said Geneviève Hébert, Member of Parliament for Saint-François.
