The Ontario government has released the final version of its Great Lakes Strategy, which establishes priorities to achieve goals to protect the Great Lakes, building on engagement with a wide variety of Great Lakes experts, First Nations and Métis communities and Great Lakes stakeholders, on the feedback received since the release of Ontario’s Draft Great Lakes Strategy in June 2012, and on the 2009 discussion paper, Healthy Great Lakes, Strong Ontario.

Groups such as Environmental Defence welcomed the strategy and called for reintroduction of the Great Lakes Protection Act.
