The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador’s Department of Environment and Conservation recognized the work of municipal drinking water system operators at its annual Clean and Safe Drinking Water Workshop, which took place this year in Gander from March 24 to 26.

Marvin Bull of the Town of Eastport received the Operator of the Year Award and Victor Keats from the Local Service District of Phillips Head received the Volunteer Operator of the Year Award.

These awards are presented annually to operators who display professionalism, dedication, and outstanding contributions to providing clean and safe drinking water in their town or community.

“Delivering clean and safe drinking water to the residents of Newfoundland and Labrador is a challenging responsibility for communities, and this workshop provides an opportunity for operators to come together to increase their knowledge and share real-life local experiences,” said Provincial Minister of Environment and Conservation Dan Crummell. “The number of nominations and letters of support we receive for these awards speaks to the dedication and hard work of the drinking water operators throughout our province.”
