The federal review for HELP Clean Water (Huron Elgin London Project) is now complete, giving the green light to start construction. John Baird, Transport and Infrastructure Minister, has said he will “quickly” sign a contribution agreement and federal funding-a commitment of up to $50 million-will flow directly to the City of London as it proceeds with construction.

This is one of the first water projects to be expedited after last week’s Economic Action Plan budget announcement. The plan will provide close to $12 billion in new infrastructure stimulus funding-a much-needed “shot in the arm,” says Baird.
