The Symposium will build upon the Findings of the PFAS Management in Canada Workshop held on September 16th 2025 (Findings document attached below), and include updates from the Government of Canada on the Canadian risk management strategy, timelines, and framework for coordinating advancements across sectors. Updates from other jurisdictions will include governance, science, and technical approaches from the EU.
There will be discussion of managing PFAS accumulating in the environment including the opportunity presented by wastewater treatment plants. Technologies and approaches for PFAS removal and destruction will be showcased alongside an analysis of the risks, challenges, costs, and the accessibility of the options. Discussion will include beneficial use and biosolids application in agricultural lands.
The Symposium will invite cross-sectoral discussion by seating participants at roundtables with participants from other sectors. Participants will include all levels of government, utilities, engineer consultant firms, technology providers, non-profit organizations, and academia.
Participants will be invited to develop a roadmap for Canada. Outcomes will be distributed to participants and stakeholders, disseminated through TMU and partner networks, and published in Water Canada.
