Calgary firm lands $1.8M contract with major California water utility

Blackline Safety Corp. has signed a $1.8-million deal with a major California water and wastewater utility in what the company says is its largest U.S. water sector contract to date.

The agreement covers more than 560 connected safety devices, including G7c wearable gas detectors and docking stations used for charging and calibration. It also provides four years of monitoring services aimed at improving worker protection.

“This contract is an important step in our continued expansion across the water and wastewater sector,” said Sean Stinson, Blackline’s President and Chief Growth Officer. “Our real-time data and monitoring capabilities and top-to-bottom solution set us apart from the competition.”

Water utility workers are often exposed to confined spaces, hazardous gases, falls, extreme weather and on-the-job risks. Blackline’s G7c devices feature SOS alerts, fall and no-motion detection, and connectivity to emergency responders.

The Calgary-based company has been expanding its presence in the utilities sector in recent years, with deployments across North America, Europe and Australia. The latest deal underscores the growing demand for connected safety systems in critical infrastructure industries.

Blackline Safety provides industrial monitoring technology in more than 75 countries and says its devices have triggered over eight million emergency alerts to date.
