$23 million investment for Tisdale Water Tower

The government of Ontario is investing more than $23 million in the new Tisdale Water Tower in the City of Timmins, ON.

“With the province’s support, the city will improve core infrastructure, ensure reliable water service, reduce energy use through smart design, and make sure that Timmins is housing and development-ready,” a City of Timmins release said.

The new water tower will stand approximately 58 metres tall and hold 10 million litres (ML) of potable water. The future site on Goldmine Rd. “also helps the City relocate critical components of the city’s water storage system away from expanding mining activity near the Discovery Silver tailings site,” the release added.

“By strengthening our water system, we will be able to deliver reliable service, reduce energy use through smart design, and ensure the city is housing-ready to support the people and the jobs that drive our economy,” City of Timmins mayor Michelle Boileau said.

“Investing in water infrastructure is directly linked with enabling development and building the foundation for growth in the north. The Tisdale Water Tower is a critical project that will support new housing, economic expansion, and long-term prosperity for Timmins,” Ontario MPP for Timmins George Pirie said.
