Wolseley Canada is furthering its relationship with Living Lakes Canada in an effort to shape the future of groundwater monitoring in Western Canada.
Following a $5,000 donation to Living Lakes Canada’s Alberta Groundwater program, Wolseley has provided an additional $5,000 donation to the Columbia Basin Groundwater Monitoring program, located in British Columbia.
Groundwater is a vital resource that supports industry while also providing drinking water for Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities. Water scarcity is becoming an increasingly important scientific topic across Canada with drought conditions becoming more severe earlier, and for longer durations. Understanding groundwater is becoming vital, as is the need for adaptive management planning.
“Wolseley Waterworks understands the importance of providing innovative product solutions for water collection, treatment, and transmission,” says Brad Rutledge, Vice President, Waterworks, Wolseley Canada. We’ve chosen to support Living Lakes Canada’s groundwater research in the Columbia Basin because identifying and safeguarding groundwater aquifers now is vital for further generations.
The Columbia Basin Groundwater Monitoring program, and the Alberta Groundwater programs will help inform groundwater management strategies and support sustainable water use in their respective regions. With this combined donation of $10,000 Wolseley is investing in innovative knowledge and management research and planning.
“We’re grateful to Wolseley Canada for their generous support of our groundwater monitoring efforts in both British Columbia and Alberta,” said Arlo Bryn-Thorn, Columbia Basin Water Monitoring Framework Program Manager with Living Lakes Canada. “Their investment helps advance the critical work of understanding and protecting groundwater sources, which in turn, supports community resilience, healthy ecosystems, and long-term water security.”
