Quebec government grants more than $6.8M to Saguenay for its water infrastructure

The Minister of Municipal Affairs and Minister responsible for the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region, Ms. Andrée Laforest, announced that $6,806,596 has been granted to the City of Saguenay for the completion of water infrastructure projects.

“Ensuring the reliability of our water infrastructure throughout Quebec is a priority for our government in order to support sustainable and safe development for current and future generations. It is more essential than ever! This investment in Saguenay will help improve the quality of services offered to citizens while continuing to foster a pleasant living environment. Thank you to everyone involved in this important project!” said Andrée Laforest, Minister of Municipal Affairs, Minister responsible for the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region and Member of Parliament for Chicoutimi.

The funding will enable the renewal of more than 3,500 meters of drinking water, stormwater, and wastewater pipes. The work will take place under Boulevard du Royaume and Henri-Bourassa, de Normandie, Leblanc, Radin, and Desjardins streets.

“Investments in water infrastructure are crucial to ensuring Saguenay residents have access to quality drinking water while protecting our environment. These efforts reinforce our commitment to a sustainable and healthy future for our community and are an integral part of the priorities of our strategic plan,” said Julie Dufour , Mayor of Saguenay.
