The District of Hudson’s Hope and BC Hydro say work is progressing on a permanent upgrade to the community’s water treatment system, with a final agreement between the two parties reached on Oct. 28.
The district says the latest phase of construction is now complete, including a roof upgrade designed to meet current post-disaster standards. The work was carried out without interrupting water service.
The next phase is set to begin at the end of November and will focus on preparing the interior of the plant for new treatment equipment. According to the district, crews will remove outdated infrastructure, install new pipes and concrete bases, and upgrade heating and ventilation systems to ensure reliable winter operations.
Most of the work will be done inside the building, but residents may notice construction vehicles on site. No water service outages are expected during this stage.
Commissioning of the permanent treatment system remains scheduled for spring or summer 2026. The district says temporary service disruptions may be required during final testing and tie-ins and that advance notice will be provided.
