International professional services company GHD has been awarded a contract to upgrade the Humber Treatment Plant – North Plant in Etobicoke, ON.
The upgrade of the plant will use a Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) delivery model and is the first time the City of Toronto has implemented the model from project initiation.
“As a supplier of engineering services for the City of Toronto, we are committed to successfully implementing the CMAR delivery model to modernize secondary treatment systems and decrease greenhouse gas emissions. This initiative will enhance operational efficiency and performance, while establishing a new benchmark for capital construction projects within the Greater Toronto Area,” GHD Canada executive general manager Steve Lecuyer said.
Highlights of the project include modernization of aging infrastructure, reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, and participation in Toronto’s Social Procurement Program to support workplace development and apprenticeships, a GHD release said.
As the prime consultant, GHD will provide preliminary and detailed design, CMAR contractor procurement, permitting, guaranteed maximum price assessment, construction phase services, and post-construction support on the project, the release said.
Key subconsultants include All Things Collaborative Delivery, Cobalt Water Global, MGAC, JenTech Inc., and Polytechnique Montreal, the release added.
