Gluzen Ramos Ong is the Team Lead of Remote Operations at The Regional Municipality of York in Ontario, Canada, where she oversees remotely operated water and wastewater infrastructure, including pumping stations, storage facilities, and other critical assets. With an academic background in Chemical Laboratory and Environmental Engineering Technology, Gluzen brings a strong technical foundation to her role, with specialized expertise in SCADA integration, operational optimization, and regulatory compliance.
She is a licensed operator through the Ontario Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks, holding Class 4 in Water Distribution and Supply, Class 3 in Wastewater Collection, Class 2 in both Water Treatment and Wastewater Treatment, as well as a Water Quality Analyst (WQA) certification.
Gluzen currently serves on the AWWA Executive Committee and Board of Directors as a Young Professional (YP) Advisor, and is a member of the Association’s YP Committee. She is a Past Chair of the OWWA YP Committee, and actively contributes to the OWWA Publications Committee and Education & Outreach Taskforce, supporting industry engagement, public education, and professional development.
