Egis acquires Ontario-based Ecometrix to strengthen environmental and water services in Canada

Global engineering and consulting firm Egis has acquired Mississauga-based Ecometrix, a move that expands its environmental and water resource capabilities in Canada.

Ecometrix, founded in 2004, employs about 60 staff in Ontario and provides environmental services to clients in the mining, nuclear, government and private sectors. The acquisition will double Egis’ environmental presence in Canada, the company said, while enhancing its ability to deliver integrated services in nuclear, mining and water.

“We are thrilled to welcome Ecometrix to Egis,” said Greg Northcott, CEO of Egis in Canada. “This new acquisition continues the firm’s growth in Canada, strengthening our ability to support our clients’ needs.”

Ecometrix has specialized expertise in the nuclear sector, which will complement Egis’ 50 years of global experience in that field. Its technical capacity in mining will also broaden Egis’ Canadian footprint, while the firm’s water resource practice is expected to expand Egis’ services to larger industrial applications.

“Joining forces with Egis is an exciting opportunity for Ecometrix,” said Bruce Rodgers, CEO of Ecometrix. “The move fuels our collective growth and considerably enhances the services we can provide to our clients.”

The deal marks another step in Egis’ Canadian expansion, adding to its 22,000 global employees working in more than 100 countries.
