CRD approves 2025 Regional Water Supply Strategic Plan

The Capital Regional District (CRD) Regional Water Supply Commission (RWSC) in Victoria, B.C. has approved the 2025 Regional Water Supply Strategic Plan on Dec. 17, 2025.

The plan was presented to the CRD Board at its Jan. 14 meeting.

“Every day, the Regional Water Supply Service supplies drinkable water to more than 430,000 people across the region. The Strategic Plan sets priorities to maintain water quality, manage demand, and invest in infrastructure, while preparing for challenges like climate change and population growth,” RWSC chair Gord Baird said.

The strategic plan focuses on three areas, a CRD release said:

providing high-quality, safe drinkable water

providing an adequate, reliable long-term supply of drinkable water; and

providing efficient, effective, and innovative operations of the water system infrastructure.

“This plan provides a structured approach to decision-making and operational planning, ensuring that residents served by the Regional Water Supply System continue to have access to safe, clean, and reliable drinkable water,” the release said.

progress reports will be routinely presented to the RWSC to ensure transparency and accountability, the release added.
