The Credit Valley Source Protection Authority is inviting the public to comment on proposed amendments to the Credit Valley – Toronto and Region – Central Lake Ontario (CTC) Source Protection Plan and Credit Valley Assessment Report, to reflect the addition of a new well to the Town of Orangeville’s drinking water system.
The new well will help meet current drinking water demand and support future growth. The proposed amendments include updates to the water budget, risk assessment, wellhead protection areas and associated technical studies.
“Protecting municipal drinking water sources is essential to ensure a safe and reliable drinking water supply for communities,” said Behnam Doulatyari, Senior Manager, Watershed Plans and Source Water Protection at Credit Valley Conservation. “Public consultation is an important part of the source protection planning process. We encourage residents and property owners to learn more about the proposed changes, if their property may be affected and to share their feedback.”
Community members are invited to attend a Public Information Centre on Thursday, August 13, 2026, and drop-in anytime between 4:30 and 7:30 p.m. at the Tony Rose Memorial Sports Centre, 6 Northmen Way, Orangeville, to learn more and speak with project staff. Public consultation is required under the Clean Water Act, 2006, to gather input from landowners, municipalities and other implementing agencies that may be affected by the proposed amendments.
The proposed amendments are available for review. Hard copy versions are available upon request at Credit Valley Conservation, during regular business hours. Written comments will be accepted until August 31, 2026.
