Blue Drinks Ottawa, the Canadian Water Resources Association (CWRA), and Science Slam Canada are hosting the first Water Slam!
This World Water Day event will be hosted at the Institute on Governance (60 George St., Ottawa) on Thursday, March 21, 2019 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. Free food and non-alcoholic beverages will be provided starting at 5pm and the slam will begin at 6:00pm.
You might be thinking, “what is a Water Slam”? It is basically your most creative way to tell a story about water. Competitors will be from all walks of life and will have 5 minutes to present on any water-related topic without the use of a projector and slides. Competitors will be judged on their ability to communicate in an engaging, entertaining, and concise way. For some examples from previous Science Slam Canada events, check out their youtube page (link).
Watch as scientists, public servants, citizen scientists, recreationalists, water aficionados, and anyone else passionate about water compete to communicate their interest and knowledge of water.
What’s on the line? Only pride, fame and eternal glory.
Please pay what you can to attend this event – we are suggesting a minimum donation of $5 per person. All money we collect will be provided to Water First, a charitable organization dedicated to resolving drinking and environmental water challenges in First Nations communities.
